A home purchase is one of the biggest investments you will ever make in your life. And even more importantly, it’s going to be your family’s home. So you want to be sure of the safety and functionality of the major systems and components of the home you intend to purchase, from the roof down to the foundation. Almost all homes will have some defects, and it is my job to uncover them for you. But most defects shouldn’t necessarily scare you away from purchasing it. There are a few issues that are major in scope and are very expensive to remedy. However, the vast majority of defects are simple and inexpensive to deal with and it is my aim as a Home Inspector, to help you feel comfortable tackling them.
I have worked in the construction and maintenance trades for years, giving me a solid understanding of the structure and components in a home. As a homeowner myself, completing my own renovations, upgrades and maintenance, I know what I am looking for in the structures and components I perform a home inspection on. It is my mission as your Home Inspector to not only uncover any safety and function defects in the home you plan on buying, but to also walk you through all the issues and answer any questions you may have about how to remedy them. I understand the gravity of a home purchase and want you to have as much knowledge as possible so that you can proceed with confidence and a plan.
I served in the US Army as a Parachute Rigger where my attention to detail was the difference between life and death for each paratrooper who jumped with my chute on their back. For 11 years I worked on the nation’s critical infrastructure, inspecting and operating high voltage power system equipment necessary for keeping the lights on. I approach each home I perform a home inspection for my clients on with the same integrity and attention to detail as I did performing those crucial responsibilities. However, my approach is one of practicality and common sense. My goal as your Home Inspector is to help you feel comfortable and informed with tackling any defects found in a home.
I am a member of the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (interNACHI) as a Certified Professional Inspector. In order to keep my certification current with this organization I have to test every 3 years as well as complete continuing education credits each year, which keeps me sharp and focused so that I can identify and bring to your attention all the safety and function defects of the house you’re purchasing so there are no surprises. I hold certifications in Commercial Inspection, Wood Destroying Organism Inspection and Mold Inspection, and also perform video sewer scoping of the sewer lateral.
